Equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives are doing the important work of making sure that all people have the opportunity to claim a seat at the table. But the work doesn’t stop there. Once at the table, it’s just as important to make sure all voices are heard.

No place is more important to focus on inclusion than the literal table — the conference room (or “Zoom room”) table. The practices that create an environment where everyone has a genuine invitation to contribute are simple, but they require a level of commitment and intentionality that is uncommon.
